Welcome! This site is run by me, Rachel. As someone who has spent many years of my life in the grind – only to find that each new rung brought chronic illness, stress, and heartache – I sought another way to live. This is how I came across the concept of slow living.
As much as I respect others who promote slow living, it isn’t always possible to be a homesteader with hens laying you fresh eggs, a huge veggie garden on your 3 acre property, and enough time leftover in the day to make sourdough bread from scratch. For some people, the only way to practice slow living is to bring intentionality and mindfulness to their busy days.
For most of us, we find ourselves playing the game: rushing around, forcing ourselves to keep up with the pace of our society, and we don’t stop to smell the roses, literally and metaphorically. That’s why I created this online space. My hope is that even though the dream life I described above is out of reach right now, I can still get closer to that life by living slowly how I’m able to right now. And if you’re reading this, that’s what I hope you can do too.
So here’s what you’ll find on Slow Living Society:
- Profiles of Slow Living Small Business Owners
- Realistic options for slow livers in apartments or condos & urban environments
- Musings about life and our society
- Slow food & drink
- Real talk about mental health
- Book reviews
- And anything else I think might be interesting
If this sounds cool to you, stick around and I can’t wait to connect with you!
